Hi, I'm new here. I bought a canon 70d with the 18-135 lens. I am going to buy a 70-300 soon. Do you think that the 18-135 would be ok for landscape photography if I shoot with the lens at 18 mm? Thanks.
Welcome! I'm new to UHH also, and like you have the Canon 70D. I really can't give you any information on the lenses, but I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures. Happy Shooting!
I have a 70D with an 18-55 kit, 55-250 kit, 18-135 is stm, and a 50mm 1.8 prime.
I find that I hardly ever take the 18-135 off of the camera.

In a nutshell, yes. The 18mm end of that lens on a 70D has a crop factor of 1.6x, so the 35mm equivalent field of view is 28.8mm, which is a nice medium wide-angle perspective... good for landscape photography. You can then zoom in to further crop your image if there is a subject you want to "feature".

First off let me say welcome to the uhh forum. The 70d is a very nice camera. You are well on your way to creating some very nice photos. The 18mm end of your lense would be just fine. If you find that is not wide enough for you then I would suggest the Tokina 11 to 16mm 2.8 in the future it is desighned for crop sensor cameras. Looking forward to your post. :-D :-D

Yes 18mm is good but so is 135mm! Don't limit your opportunities.
I also just bought the 70D. For the lens I went with a Tamron 18-275. Less expensive (almost 50% less) then the 18-300 and smaller/lighter.

I assume you mean the Tamron 18-270. What 18-300 lens are you referring to? The only one I know of is a Nikkor strictly for Nikon cameras. Are you referring to the Canon 18-200? The Tamron goes for $449 and the Canon for $699. I have both. They are currently being used by my son and wife respectively. They both have pros and cons, but with my copies on two different Canon Rebels (T2i and T2i) the Canon is definitely sharper.
I have the Canon 18-135 lens and it has nice quality for an economical lens.

All things considered its a nice lens. Its moderately priced, has a very useful focus range, very decent optics, a quick and quiet STM motor which allows for good video auto focus on a 70D, and full time manual focus and a lens lock and 4 stops of IS. All in all a very good value for for a mid priced lens. The only downside is that it is a slow variable aperture lens, but for most folks in most situations that won't be too much of an issue.
Yes, the 18-270 Tamron. My bad. I was going back and forth between the Nikon7100 w their 18-300 vs the Canon 70 d with the 18-270 lens.

It depends on what you want your landscape photography to be. If you find the kinds of shots you like on sites where you can see the image info (500px?), you can see what focal lengths are used.

I agree with the Tokina 11 to 16mm 2.8. I purchased it primarily to shoot the aurora, but I find its a beautiful lens for landscape as well.
Look into the Canon 15-85mm. This is a great lens . I to have a 70D & its is on my camera 90% of the time. Also look into the Canon 70-200 F/4 non IS. This L lens can be found for about 500$ used. If you want ultra wide try the Canon 10-22mm. Hope you love your new 70D as much as I love mine.
Yes,it is a beautiful camera. I just saw some pics I took at a cherry farm, vineyards etc and I'm overwhelmed and too excited!! All taken with 18mm for landscape, some in between with the 18-135 lens. Am impressed with the versatility of this lens. Can just imagine what wide angle ones can do! But for anyone hesitating to buy this camera and lens, it's a winner!
