I worked for a Allischalmers, New Idea farm empliment deallership about that time. We never sold any D10 but sold lot D14's and D15's, D17's and some H3's and Hd3's.
I at one time had a crank start model b A/C and one of the little H3 crawler tractors. They was good tractors.

It's not an A/C. I grew up with them. I have a WD45 and a D-17 and a cousin had an Allis dealership.

This is a Farmall--the grille say it all. Our neighbor that we farmed with had Farmalls. This one is a little guy, probably a B, but I'm not sure about that designation. His were bigger--M's, H's, and a 450.

Thank you all for your comments & the 'what is it?' debate. I am no expert, but I grew up 'in the bush', & my vote would go for a Farmall, but I couldn't say for sure.. Some of the hobby farms around here still use old Farmalls & Fergusons. Earl.

I agree with you it is a farmal and it is an A or a B model and I think it is an A. Also familiar with the bigger farmals we had a farmal F12 and I can't remember for sure whether it was a 1020 or a 2010 it originally had steel wheels but had been converted to rubber.
I am also familiar with you WD45 and your D-17 both very good tractors.

I would say here in the states we call the old tractor with Inter on the hood plate a 13 letter Poop spreader.

I stand corrected, but with a bit of skepticism. Sure looks like an older Allis charmers . D10 was the only AC I ever owned. All others John Deere. Loved the Allis, real easy to work on.

Since I am an old farm boy this tractor is a Farmall A. Been around since the forties and continued into the early fifties before it was renamed with a 100 series number.

Skepticism? A blind man on a galloping horse can see it's a Farmall. Lol
However, it's a fact of life we all form our preferences from experience.
I looked at machinery from a mechanics point of view. Most of you old sodbusters, ( no offence), from a hands on operating view.
Over my 50 year mechanical career I saw inside quite a variety of machinery & formed opinions of many products.
My choice between Allis Chalmers & IH is that AC are great for anchors (boats moorings).
The little AC farm tractors had a common problem of breaking in half at their skinny transmission section mid machine.
I managed the service dept of a large John Deere dealer for 10 years & gained a lot of respect for the JD brand. Still the only brand that has not been swallowed up by another failing product. eg. Ford/ New Holland, Fiat/ Allis, forget who took over Stieger, maybe IH. And even IH is owned by Fiat/ Iveco.
I must qualify all this in that my opinions are about the more modern machinery. The oldies like this Farmall & the old time machines were built with quality.
Not big in the ' Bells & Whistles ' department & not much better than the Horse, but less effort to operate & cheaper to feed.
When I see an old machine rusting under a tree, I just want to go & rub up against it like a cat against your leg. I love em.
I also admire the folks who restore them. I've seen a few sheds full of their collections. Fantastic!
Having been a mechanic all day, the last thing I'd want to do is come home & be a mechanic & restore one.
Enough waffling on.

Hmm I have used numerous brands over the years but one that I have preferred toward the end of my career in farming I built a strong like toward Massey Ferguson and when I retired I decided I wanted some thing still with a farm flavor even though I now live in a smaller city, Bourbonnais Il., I purchased a Massey Ferguson GC2600 with a front end loader and a 60" belly mower. Is it as nice as a JD maybe not be it is a good reliable tractor in its class. I had considered JD Case IH and Kubota when I bought this one won out for a couple of reasons.

They look a bit similar, but the grill gives it away; A/C never had a grill like that.
