I get several calls a day from out of state. Fortunately for me, I tend to be anti-social. I don't pick up and never call back.

It's why I have caller ID, if I don't know who's calling, I don't answer.

First, I never answer a call from a number I don't recognize.
Second. If I receive a call from an unknown caller, I do a google search on the number to see what I can find out. Usually there is a whole list of information about people getting calls from the number I typed in.
Third: Next, I add the unknown number in my contact list as a SPAM CALLER and then have my phone answer this number in a silent mode. This way, I am not disturbed late at night if they call or for that matter have to listen to the phone ring.
Fourth: I usually clear out my Phone log on a regular basis to delete the Spam Callers.

This process works for me.

dirtpusher if you are talking to me, I do label them in my contacts, example: Spam Caller Utah, Spam Caller NH, etc. This way they show up on caller ID,

Good advice...

It seems like these crooks are constantly coming up with devious methods to separate you from your money.

Then I would name one, Spam Caller Caribbean. I might even get a wild hair and assign a Bob Marley ringtone to it. LOL!!!

I don't have a cell phone to begin with (and never will), so I don't have to worry about that.

My nephew got a call from Jamaica and he three way conferenced call to Deputy Sherriff in his county and the man from Jamaica threatened him, his wife and his mother that he would come to US and rape and kill them. The deputy's wife and mother work for sheriffs office also and the deputy said was federal offense and that he would bring him to USA and charge him. Jamaica belongs to USA and a few days later my sister got a call from the Jamaican and he told her to come to the Saint Frances County Court house. I guess the deputy brought him up to Mo. and charged him with threatening him, his wife and mother and my nephew. Let's hope they throw the book at them as his friends where hollowing the same threats. I thought it was funny. The deputy used caller ID and then he called the law where they were in Jamaica and told them what happened and he wanted all the ones involved sent to Mo. I guess they did. LOL
