Taken at LA Fairplex as Big Boy was being readied for trip to over hall yard. Overcast morning and lots of activity to shoot around.

Interesting shots Graymond.
Can't wait to see her steamed up, the employees at Cheyenne can sure restore steam, now if Jerry Jacobson would get one of the DM&IR Yellowstones and restore it 2-8-8-4, they had more tractive effort than the UP Big Boys
Thank you all for the comments and advice. Was able to go to Colorado and ride the old trains a couple of years ago. The folks in the Owens Valley of CA (Where I am From) are restoring a small steamer WWW.CARSONCOLORADO.COM. I rode the train on its final run up the valley.

Thanks Graymond. So I take it that 4014 is the one that's being placed back in running order? It will probably get to Omaha some time, am looking forward to it. One of my daughters is a Sr Director with U.P. and that has gotten me up close to the Challenger (3985) a few times.
We have the last Big Boy here in Omaha but it's just sitting outside in the elements unfortunately. The one in Wyoming is also outside but with a roof. The one in Green Bay is inside but has a thick covering of dirt and dust and is so crowded that photography is nearly impossible. Denver has one but I've not seen it.
