This reference is to the photo I posted showing the sharpness correction I made.

This document applies the following information, which was used in Photoshop CS4. It may or may not apply to other Photoshop products.

1. Make a duplicate layer of the photo
2. With duplicate layer selected, set the blending mode to Hard Light
3. Set the Opacity to 0% and then increase it to a point that improves the photo to your liking, this may be less than 50% or slightly more.
4. Merge the photos
5. I topped off your photo by using Filter/Unsharp mask set to 115%, Radius 1.5 pixels, and Threshold Level at 1. If the detail is fine it needs to be higher, 130 to 180%.

Information:
Radius: 1.5 or lower-- 2 for very large print file sizes more than 30mb and 1 for 6mb or less.

Threshold:
Low gives a high sharpness, but also sharpens noise, and other Artifacts. For most digital cameras use a threshold level of 3 to 4. If you find any noise problems increase to 10 or 12

You can also check out Nik Software Sharpener Pro plug in.

It is useful to use when needed, however I would not use it on every photograph.
We need to keep learning photo skills, like how to take a photograph that will give us a good picture to start with.
Some of us try to rely to much on image stabilizers.

This sound so cool - any ideas on if it has come out commercially yet? I'm in line to get it. Since buying a tripod I have a lot less problem with motion (I'm a newbie) but I have some older photos I'd love to doctor up a bit....

I love this pic taken at Brook Green Gardens in SC but it isn't sharp at all.

Aftershot Pro from Corel has a plugin that sharpens pictures nicely without over exposing them. There are plenty of other things you can do to tweak your pics with it, but I only applied the denoise and sharpening plugin. The plugin is called a wavelet plugin and you can get it as a free download when you buy Aftershot Pro. If you have PSP X2-4, you can use it as an "upgrade" and get the upgrade price for it. If you have Bibble 5, you can also use it as an upgrade as this was formerly Bibble, with Corel's improvements. This program is like Lightroom, or NX2.

Here is your picture with a few simple adjustments.
