The Great Courses

I recently discovered this site, and find it fascinating. I've bought a few of their science, math, and cooking courses, and they are top quality. Although the list prices are very high, they always have many on sale. You can download them or buy the discs. In either case, you can stream them on your computer.

Also, some might be available through your local library.

I can't give you a list, but I did learn that you never put anything into a cold pan. Get the pan hot, add some oil, get that hot, then add the food.

I also learned about the proper care and use of knives and cutting boards.

I took a lot of notes, which I can refer to when I need them. Bill Briwa was the instructor, and he's very good.

I bought the Calculus class, and it is amazing. I haven't had Calculus in 30 years, and this course made it all very clear. I highly recommend them.

I'll have to see if that's available from our library.

Free calculus courses:

Loved calculus; only when I was in grad school did it finally click into real-world stuff. Success in mathematics is repetition.

Thanks, Jerry, for your post!!

My brother is a Great Courses enthusiast. Flora and I have a couple and they are generally good. As an old fart, however, I prefer print so I can more easily go back to review a concept, etc. I also am a footnote fanatic!

Jerry, back @ Christmas time they had a good photography program on sale for about 30 bucks. It's a great refresher-type look-see to have around. They have a very large catalogue of courses.
