Let us look at this in a calm manner. What interests do we have in the Crimea? The Crimea was Russian for some 350 years why not now? It is the home of some 66% of their warm water ports. It is predominantly Russian - settled by Russians and developed by Russians. It was never a part of the Ukraine.

Why should we go to war over the Crimea? Our total trade with all of Russia is about $38 Billion would you go to war over that small amt of money?

The people of the Crimea do not seem upset over the Russians taking over and in fact most seem pleased.

So, Obama is doing the same as Chickenhawks Bush and Cheney did over Georgia - NOTHING!

It seems to me that it is time Europe stood up and if they are up set let them do something - after all Russia is their gas station not ours!
I would do exactly what OBama is doing. br br Le... (show quote)

As usual you miss the point. You are correct that Obama should have done nothing. He should not have made a bevy of threats with no intention of following through on them. He should have kept his mouth shut. Instead he gave the ammunition to make us a laughing stock.

Cheney and Bush are history, join the present and get over it.

Now there's a phrase you don't hear often (never):
"I would do exactly what Obama is doing."

The "Re-acquisition" by Russia of the Crimea makes one wonder about other potential Re-acquisitions. Perhaps one day we will be faced with Mexico demanding that portions of Texas and California rightfully belong to their country. There is now certainly sufficient Mexican's in those States to constitute a loud minority to petition for such a change. I'm just saying.....

This seems to me to be a European problem. Nobody would welcome Russian hegemony in the area, but the U.S. shouldn't be the lead here. The European members of NATO should be meeting ceaselessly to develop a plan to handle this situation, and then the U.S. should be supporting the plan. You can bet your butt that no one in Europe is ready to go to war over this. And if the Europeans don't think the Russian threat is strong enough to take action, why should we? We have the overwhelming fire power to level Russia if we wanted to, and they know that. Let Europe develop a solution, and we'll back it up as a member of NATO.

An unusually good response, considering who posted it.
Oh, by the way, Russia also has the overwhelming fire power to level the USA, and we know that also.
( I wonder if that was the math-teachers one and only rational idea...bet it was.)

Obama has demonstrated just how weak he is, and by extension how weak America is under his "leadership"

Putin has been bitch slapping Barry for years and Obama has not yet gotten the joke

THE KGB vs ACORN who do YOU think will win?
No doubt in my mind. Obama has ben outclassed from day one.

The America Economy in the toilet, 93 million Americans not working, America dependent on foreign oil. 1/3 or Americans on food stamps.

DRILL DRILL DRILL. America will enjoy an economic BOOM that will return the USA to the world leadership we once were.

Obama BOWING to foreign leaders? this man is weaker than Carter, and no where near as intelligent.
DRILL OIL, DRILL GAS, Mine Coal remove restriction... (show quote)

Bruce, I don't know or really care where you get your information but when going on a rant at least be current with your whimpering. The above makes you look even more foolish.

Thats the way it's being handled ts, see below:

Briefing the Security Council yesterday in New York, UN Deputy Secretary-General, Jan Eliasson laid out a succinct timeline of the "fast-moving and serious" recent events: Crimean authorities had announced that close to 97 per cent of those who voted in Sunday's referendum did so in favour of secession from Ukraine; subsequently, Crimea declared its independence, which in turn was recognized by Russia; Monday the European Union and the United States moved to apply targeted sanctions against Russian and Crimean officials

It's NOT spelled, "Your"...it's a contraction of the words,
"You are", and it's spelled "You're".
Sheesh! How many times do I have to...?

Is there a particular reason for you to be so nasty in your response? None of my reply mentioned you, yet you feel it necessary to insult me. Why did you feel it necessary to get personal? I don't get it.
