Buck... This is why most people today refer to the bible as a great historical novel... Pretty soon someone will make a Hollywood film out of Noah's ark or some such fable... Make lots of money!

Gee! You think?

James,
You say the Bible has "too many inconsistencies." Would you mind telling me one or two of them? And, please, don't give me just your interpretation or something you may have heard someone else say. I'd like you to quote the chapter and verse you're speaking of. Thanks!

Hey Buck Eye, The easiest way to answer that is to google "biblical fallacies." You'll get pages of websites that document in detail the inconsistencies of the bible. From internal conflicts to historical un-truths and some of these sites are scholarly in nature. I would encourage you to research a few and see if you have the same view afterward.

Yes, please get to know this book...it is too important to take lightly. Very few books came from that era.

You really miss the point. No one rejects god. They only wonder why god apparently continues to kill and maim millions of people here on earth..Many of whom know nothing of a god. She must be a real bitch! BUT, are there alternatives... Maybe aliens?

I think YOU are the one who misses the point. No one seeks after God on his/her own because we're all too consumed with the demands of our own egos...we like being our own god. And another thing, why do you say that it is God who "continues to kill and maim millions of people here on earth?" You know this because...? Did God tell you He was doing this? And just where does your idea of God come from anyway? Or, like a lot of folks, are you merely repeating words that others before you have said? For some reason, no one has explained to you of how God has used men and women down through the ages to be a witness to His awesome power and of how He changes lives. You should read about men like J. Hudson Taylor, William Carey, Dwight L. Moody, Martin Luther, the apostle Paul, and Billy Graham. Read all of their biographies first before you start with your diatribe against God. Also check out women such as Mother Theresa, Lottie Moon, and Corrie Ten Boom. These ladies have had a significant effect on the world. After checking out these few people, if your mind is still bent on chasing after the wind with your view towards God, you are no doubt like your alternative aliens.

What a pile of crap. Spend your life the way want to and leave others to do the same. Why do you people always think you must "share" the glory of god? A large and ever growing segment of people feel no need for God. I speak for myself and others like me. We don't bother you. Quit bothering us.

Sorry, Dave, the game isn't played that way. YOU need to come up with your OWN set of inconsistencies. Why would you allow someone else to make up your mind for you? OR does this whole thing about God and the Bible scare you a little bit? Don't respond back unless you're prepared to engage one on one with me with your own inconsistencies.

So, god sent ten people down here to put things right... That's quite a load. Or, the inherent goodness of Human kind attempts to look after the survival of its kind... Don't need to worship anyone for this because goodness can only come from within...

I'm sorry Buckeye, I thought you were looking for an answer to your question but I'll bite. Here are just a few of the many problems the bible has.

You cannot take all of the details of the Easter story from the four gospels and create a single narrative.

Millions of Hebrews are purported to have left Egypt. There is no evidence of this or mention of it outside of the bible.

There is precious little evidence that there was a King David, or King Solomon.

There is precious little evidence that a historical Jesus existed.

The Noah's ark story alone is hugely problematic. The Titanic was 4 times the size of the ark and it was designed to house 2000 people for 2 weeks. the ark was supposedly designed to house millions of animals for over a year. Never mind food clean water and waist removal. Fish would die, the water being either to salty or not salty enough. Corals and other shallow water creatures would die from water pressure. What did the animals eat when the flood was over. All the plants would be dead and the predators would eat what? There would be no genetic diversity with only one pair of animals or even 7 pairs. How cold would it be at 30,000 feet and what about air density.

These are just a few off the top of my head. Again, if you'd like to get a more exhaustive answer to your question try that google search.
