I'm a beginner at it & normally I just use black & white for my photos. Is there a way or a tutorial anyone can post on how to use CS5.1 & maybe even know how to create perfect faces. Thank you.

Scott Kelby of Kelby Training has just come out with a brand new book titled: "Professional Portrait Retouching Techniques for Photographers Using Photoshop. I just received my copy two days ago. Scoot owns Kelby Training, is the president of NAPP(National Association of Photoshop Professionals) and world famous photographer & teacher. Check him out at http://www.kelbytraining.com.

CS5 has what is known as a Spot Healing brush. It detects changes in contrast, such as a zit. size the brush slightly bigger than what you want to replace and click the healing brush on it. Poof, it's gone and the area where it was matches the matching area where the zit was sitting. Amazing software.

I have this book and it is worth every penny and more. I just got my copy a couple of days ago, Bob. Did you renew your membership too?

I just attended Scott's "Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It" seminar in Denver and if any of you out there in photography land have the opportunity to attend, it would be well worth it to do so. There were 450 people registered and we sat front row, center. Absolutely amazing.

Anyway, the Spot Healing Brush tool set to Content Aware is one of my absolute favorite tools in CS5. It's great for facial blemishes, stray hairs and tree branches, lens spots, etc. If you start getting a ghost near a defined edge, switch to the Clone Stamp tool.

Yes, I renewed my membership and received the book as my reward.

I just blew a guy away by picking up a log along the banks of a river photo, rotate it 90 degrees and stand it on end on a rick in the middle of the river. The guy kept claiming GIMP was as good as CS5 Photoshop so I dared him to pull the log trick off in GIMP?

I haven't a clue. The last version of Elements I used was version 7.0. That's before email links out of software became the norm. All you have to do is Google it. "email in Elements 9".

For tutorials, one of the places I have found that is very good for perfecting techniques is to look on Youtube. There is a wealth of information on there.

Professional portrait is worth the money, you can also make up actions in photoshop where you don't have to the same thing over and over again. Or buy them.
