Cactus in bloom.

Cactus bloom very beautiful but if you want to take a picture you better do it today as the flower will be gone tomorrow, the have a very short lifespan.

All are gorgeous but #1, the contrast of the fiery orange against the lighter green is just off the charts. Contrast of color and texture. The flowers say "touch me", the needles on the cactus say "no".

Thank you very much, at one time I had 250 in pots and some realy bloomed super nice while others just existed.

Thank you so much Carlysue. You know the first one you mentioned could be touched it has soft spines. Others can be nasty, one rolled over my forearm once and I ended up in emergency to have the spines surgically removed they have barbed hooks as soon as you touch them they go deeper.

Thank you very much, glad to share. I actually got my first test of cactus in your state. In 1959 I was hiking in Big Bend National Park and stepped into a cactus, they park ranger tried to get the spine out but had no success. I ended up in the emergency ward at Alpine Texas where the spine was removed to the tune of $35. which was a lot of money in those days.
