Not really Amateur means that it is a hobby and a passion but that you have not achieved the experience to call yourself a pro, hobbies t means that you are spending great sums of cash to achieve the pro label at all costs.

I prefer the term "Hobbyist". Amateur implies lack of skill.

#3 should have been hobbyist. I refrain from calling myself an amateur, when I started with a Kodak Brownie in the late fifties and have always had a camera around.

You pack around camera's for 54 years and call yourself an "amateur" if you like?

My past hobbies....

Sailing was
Custom and Rod car bulding was
Golfing was
Skiing (downhill) was
Hunting and killing unarmed animals was
Fishing (Fly) Never tied flies.
Photography, was... still is.

I was only amateur at any of them for a short time. I became good at all of them, except golf.... the balls kept going the wrong direction.....

So NO to all three of your choices. I did come closest to making a living with Custom and Rod car building, or restorationwork.

In addition, I gave away a lot of very nice photography and my work hangs out at friend's and others homes.
