You are correct, Red-winged Blackbird, adult male. Female and juvenile are heavily streaked dark and pale brown overall. Many times the females remain hidden.

This one appears to me to be a Yellow Wing Blackbird. I see them here only in early spring for a short period of time. Most of what we have are Red Winged.

Audie, As far as I know, there is no North American bird named Yellow Wing Blackbird. The only North American bird that resembles this picture is the Tricolored Blackbird which is local to the west coast only. If this picture was taken in coastal California it may be the Tricolored, but if taken in Georgia, most likely a Red-Winged. If it is a Tricolored taken in Georgia, it is a long way from home.

What this is probably a 1st. year male that has not gotten full color. This is probably why you only see them for a short time in the spring.

After doing a little snooping around, it appears it may be a maturing male. The shoulder badge looks as if it has not yet fully developed.

It's a male red winged blackbird. When the wings are folded you mostly see the yellow band but when the wings are spread you see the red patch. Judging by the muted look of the colours he isn't in mating mode yet. When the mating season starts the colours become much more brilliant including the black colour. Keep your eyes open and maybe you'll get a few shots when they're in mating mode.
