I just received the following link in an email from a cousin of mine, and thought it very worthwhile to share with all UHH'rs
Our history we must keep and there is no better way than our photographs.
These pics. were taken from color slides found at the Library of Congress. They are dated between 1939-1943.
The pictures are so clear and the color is so vibrant, it looks as though they were taken just yesterday.

A testament to Kodaks film supremacy. Too bad they couldn'y maintain that standard today.
First off; thanks for the link. They were great. But it does make me wonder who will be the keeper of the past when today is the past. Many photos today are kept on harddrives, even with back ups. A technology that will someday go the way of the 5 inch floppy. What's the answer? I don't know but maybe we should all print at least some of our photos so they'll be around for future generations.
I enjoyed the pics. thanks for posting.I love to look at old photos.
I just finished transferring hundreds of old photos I had stored on Zip disks to CDs. The Zip drives were miles ahead of floppies but are all but gone now with technology advancing still. Hopefully the CDs will be around another 10 years or so, but solid state drives are becoming more and more common too so who knows. I am still keeping all my old slides and negatives from the 70's, 80's and 90's no matter what.
Interesting shots....thanx for the link
Thanks for sharing this link. Very cool indeed!
Very nice. Some of the places in Idaho and Montana still look about the same.

All my phots are down loaded on a c.d. As well as a 4x6 prints, Then I make inlargments of many of them, they then are placed in a plastic sheeth and placed in a large plastic container with a air tight lid. They also have notes on each photo.Thats about all than I can do to preserve them for the next generation to see how we lived.
and the changes that have been as the years have gone by.
thanks

Excellent pictures. That's what you can do with Kodachrome (sadly no longer available since about mid-2010). I don't remember whether it was Popular Photography or Shutterbug which featured the pictures taken on, literally, the last roll of Kodachrome.
Thanks for the memories (all the still pictures taken of me and my siblings as kids were taken with Kodachrome and the color in all of them is still excellent).

Thank you for sharing the photos were great
