Very effective visually to convey the emotional bleakness even though "beautiful."
Thank you artBob! Bleak and beautiful, that sums up Maine this time of year :) What a fun avatar you have - like it!

You obviously are not coming to the Bay Area as it is now 58 degrees. (I'm sooo cold!) BTW, great picture of the light house.
Hi Sirius - no, while the Bay Area is where I began, this trip takes me to Pasadena. And wow, from 0 to 70 degrees in one day - love it!!! Thank you for your kind words on the image!

Beautiful! I'm torn between 'that beach sand should be cropped out as too contrasty' to 'I can't imagine that shot without the sand'.

Thank you Danoj, glad my image brought back good memories to you! You are so right, there is no place like the coast of Maine! Come back and visit!

Ramram, thank you! I just spent a most delightful day today in your neck of the woods on the sands of Crystal Cove! So I understand how you might assume the snow in my picture is sand! I think the foreground snow is essential to convey the season, but would like your suggestions on cropping to make it less distracting. It has been one brutal winter back in beautiful Maine and it is such a treat escape to So. Cal for a couple of weeks!! You are blessed to live here!
Strange old world we live in: My house is 4 miles from the town of Laguna Beach! I live in a senior community, which allows us here to spell your name 'Carefree'! I would be happy to provide you a sample of SoCal/South Orange County/Laguna Woods Village hospitality with a welcoming lunch.
I would simply crop off the snow (is THAT what that stuff looks like!) and make the shot a panorama.
Glad you enjoyed Crystal Cove and hope you took advantage of its many photo ops ... Dick
