War horses--beautiful.

War Horses.Magnificent.

These horses were originally bred as "war horses" in the days of knights and armour. As armour got heavier, bigger horses were needed and the Friesian almost became extinct. They are back and are one of the most beautiful horses in stature as well as gait.

Just watching them becomes an emotional experience. Can you imagine what it would be like to ride one? Their manes and tails are the longest that are to be seen and when performing on grass, their hoofs do not kick up a divot, as they land flat footed.

Creatures such as these are what makes this world so special. What gorgeous animals!!

These horses are native to the Netherlands.

I believe that they are Friesian Horses...

Here is a URL that you probably have watched... BUT it is the rescue of over 100 horses stranded in a flood... I believe that many of them were of that breed....

While in my medieval re - enactment phase of life(the Markland Mercenary Militia), I had the opportunity to not only see a magnificent matched pair of Friesans(Asbjørn & Anikae), but got the opportunity to ride Anikae(the mare). Even tho I'd ridden horses for year, my legs were sore after wrapping them around the beer-barrel chest of that animal. An unreal ride for sure!!

I had an opportunity to ride one of those beauties and it was truly awesome. You could read a book while riding at any gate, okay that may be an exaggeration but they are incredibly comfortable to ride.

Awesome! Absolutely magnificent.

In my younger horse riding day I used to ride bareback. There's nothing like it. You feel totally at one with the horse. Like others, I wish I had the opportunity to do that with one of these. It would be quite an experience.

Maybe some of them are but a few of the riders in this video looked like they were getting plenty of bouncing around.
