Try to blur the clouds a little. In additional to a little more realism, it might draw more attention to the birds.

I think that this would work better if you had left more shadows on the birds...they look overexposed. I agree with your wife .. and so will you if you're smart:)
I like them both .... your version and your wife's version. Which is better ? I'm not taking sides on this one !!!
Your result is gorgeous. Nice job! Your wife's is also nice but yours is a more powerful image.
