Jefferson Memorial at Night

This photo is my first day experience with a DSLR camera. This shot would not have happened had it not been for another photobug in the area to help me out.

I am curious about the halo effect around the dome. This was taken around 10pm. Is it because I over exposed the image? Should I have changed my ISO which was set at 200? Can this be corrected post edit?

I cropped towards the right to take out very dark folliage but left the cherry blossoms in. I also added a vignette blurr to the photo.

Nikon D5000
36mm F/16
15s
ISO 200

if im not mistaken the halo effect arround the dome is caused by the lights they have up around the dome.

What a beautiful shot. I love the color, composition and focus. Yes, I'm sure the halo is from the lighting. I did darken the lighting in that area a little and will post it here for your consideration. Hope you don't mind me fooling with it.

Oh yes, I see where you toned it down in the white area of the dome. Good catch on that. I still have to learn how to do pin point adjustment.

But all of you think the dark halo is caused from the lighting around the memorial?

Yep!
It's the lighting present in the area around the memorial.

In fact, I think this is a REALLY awesome shot and what halo there IS, is not distracting at all. I wouldn't have noticed a thing if you hadn't said it was bugging you!
