Redbird ridin' the storm out...

Hi Folks, we recently had some ice and snow pass through our area. Not much as compared to many of you up North.
Anyway...saw this female Redbird sitting on my icy shepards hook that my bird feeder is suspended from. Couldn't resist taking her picture. The white streaks are from the light snow falling at the time. Shot with my wife's Sony HX300 at about 25 feet away.

I know...it's crazy cold out for us here in the South. Got down to 9 degrees last night. But when you see a good photo op...you gotta take it.

Fantastic focus and sharpness. I can't get this out of my Nikon 5200 that cost 2-3 times as much with it's kit zoom lenses. I bet you are happy with that rig.

Pretty shot James, it's Ohio's state bird.

It's been a delightful surprise. Both my wife and I are disabled and thus we have to live within our means. There are so many nicer cameras we'd never be able to own. I drool every time I see other nice rigs. I'm not going to say this is a great camera, but it does a nice job. Of course other cameras are better, but for the value...I'm have a blast with it. However you should be very proud of your Nikon 5200, a very good and capable camera. I've salivated over those too.

My wife is a native Ohio girl. She reminds me of that a lot. They are very pretty birds and worthy of being your State's bird.

John I've been thinking about Spring for sometime now. Officially it's just 17 days away. I think we are all ready...it's been a grooling Winter for most of us.
