Here goes...
Photo #1- Camera angle too low. Keep hands behind bouquet- right hand is distracting.
Photo#2- is this super-imposed on the tree?Groom's foot & leg appear like a doctored image. If they're marreid now, pose them friendlier. Groom looks disinterested.
Photo#3- Special effect distracts from the bride. She should be the subject of the image.
Photo#4- If you're going to use a mirror, DON"T photograph breaker boxes & expect the bride to be the mirrors main subject.
Photo#5- Same here; watch for distracting items in mirrors. This has now happened in 2 different bride shots. Are there others? This is also a bad pose for this subject. Due to her size, her arms & shoulders are competeing with her face & bouquet stem should be hidden by laying it across her arm with stems under her forearm.
Photos #6&7- Special effect is OK, only if requested. Where is the groom in this car shot?
Photo#8- Are you photographing a bride or props? RED is the main color that draws the eye's attention & you have made the flowers the main subject of this image. The bride has become part of the black & white background.

Thanks Ransom. You have made some good points. I am pretty new at this and I will keep your advice in mind.
To be honest, The second photo is not superimposed. It was taken down by the river where the wedding was. I added some green to the color of the grass and that may be what you are seeing. It first photo is superinposed. It was taken using a green screen. thanks again.

I like the photos, but I get what he is saying. This is how I am learning. How to make a better picture. Here are a few that I did behind the scene. This was my first wedding and I was following the photographer taking pictures. He wanted to see what kind of pictures I would take. Taken with my Cannon Power Shot

Thanks Cat. Your pictures are beautiful.
I have never had a lead photographer to give me tips. Thats why I say, "I don't want to stick my neck out to far". I know I have alot to learn and all of these comments are helpful to me.

You know Bells, we all know what we like personally. So we have a little idea going in. It is putting it all together and remembering to do so. I start out remembering this and that and then poof it's gone. I just click away. I think I have every photo I have ever taken....lol Yes we get input and that helps us. I can't understand my manual at all, but when I see these pics and we are given advise, I see it and understand it. Go on stick your neck out....I do all the time and I am not sorry. You'll get great advice here and it will come from the heart. Trust me I have pics with shadows noise just crappy. It's all good:) Shooting behind Nick is like he isn't there at all. He says nothing. We do go over the photos. I pick what I like and then he picks what he likes. He has used a lot of my photos which makes me very proud.

Thanks so Much. I totally understand what you are saying. I have a Bridal Shoot tomorrow and I have spent hours today making a plan and I'd bet that it will not go according to plan. It never goes completely to my plan but for me, It always helps to have one. My business is coming by word of mouth around here. I'm not pushing it. I have a pretty big fear factor.

Gals, I pickep up a pile of back issues of pop phot magazine at my camera club last night. I was reading the June 2011 issue and came across an interview with a man voted in the top ten wedding photographers in the country. The article is full of tips and has examples of his work. If you go to popphoto.com they might have an archive of back issues, otherwise your local library should have it. When I saw the article I thought of you all

I had taken the free workshop on creativeLIVE.com with Jasmine Star who is also one of the top 10 wedding photographers. If you see any workshops on creativeLIVE with her be sure and watch it, she is absolutely incredible. I also belive her personality has a lot to do with her success as well as her remarkable talent. This is a wonderful site with all kinds of photo workshops, usually 3 day workshops live from Seattle, WA and you can also buy the downloaded version if you want to keep it for reference. I've watched many and have also bought two of them. One of my favorite sites, be sure to check it out.

Bell, I agree with ransome63, he is right on with his critique. The second photo makes his foot look like it is dangling in mid air. The last shot your eye goes immediatly to the flowers and white Bible. Normally when viewing a photo your eye will go to the white or brightest spot first, this is what happened in this shot the Bible and red flowers automatically draw you to that point and then takes your eye to the bride, not what you want, you want the bride to pop and draw the focus.

Hang in there, you'll do fine, it's a learning curve and there is a lot of help out there like Ransom63 that so willingly share their wealth of information that helps make us better photographers. I took a wedding workshop on creativeLIVE.com with Jasmine Star, one of the top 10 wedding photographers. They offer free photography workshops that usually run for 3 days, there top notch. I love shooting weddings but have only done friends and family, I haven't gotten up the nerve to charge yet. I'm so afraid of screwing up a key shot. Unfortunately there are no retakes on wedding photos. Maybe some day I will get up the nerve to offer it in my business. In the meantime I'll do children/family and pet portraits, at least I can offer a retake if I mess up.

Bells, my only comment is with regards to the second photograph, if you look at their cheeks you'll see white spots try to avoid this. Perhaps a little powder on their faces would eliminate it.

Bells - most of them are quite lovely, but #2 is too blown out. Too much white without differentiation. Wow! That was a tricky word to spell, but I finally got it right.
