Yahoo Groups could do everything you want--very easy to post good quality photos, you can make membership closed to the public, and there is a message board, or e-mail delivery of messages--like here. http://groups.yahoo.com

I use Shutterfly for group sharing; it's free, easy, and they hold on to your pics forever. People in the group can order prints, photo books, etc. I set one up for my kid's sports team. The only downside is that the file can't be too big; I have a Nikon D5200 and I had to dial down the resolution a bit in the camera. Never had that problem with my older 16 MP camera.

Thought about fb, but wasn't sure that was a good idea, although it works. Hadn't Thot about group email, but for photos? Don't they lose quality in that process? I have had trouble with that trying to send pics of baptisms to the church. Had to take a flash drive. Technology can sometimes be a problem.

We use a FB group for our local camera club. If anyone is concerned about pictures getting scalped by FB don't post the highest quality and possibly suggest a watermark. Yes, they can be removed but a photo not quite for prime time and watermark work just fine and simple. KISS!

As for email, that only gets the photo into bunch of inboxes. That shares the picture but not the comments. And some mail services still have some size limitations.

How about just a free website from some place like webs.com?

Nobody will ever find it by accident, you really have to work to get your site found these days. Just give the web address to members, and give them access to upload photos to the gallery.

Dropbox is a very good option. I share a Dropbox folder with a friend in Oklahoma. We share photos back and forth that way. The only thing you have to look out for is cost. Dropbox gives you a limited amount of space by default, and you have to pay to get more.

I work as a free lance photographer for events here in town for the local newspaper, there are five of us and the newspaper has us use dropbox, user friendly. It's fun to see what everyone else did that week and we can comment to each other. We each post anywhere from 20 to 40 pictures each.

I took a photography class where we set up a private flicker page for the instructor to post comments about our photo and for the others to see, worked well.

Whatever you do, check the terms and conditions of the hosting service. Make sure that they can't use the photos that are posted.

Facebook. Set up a group page only visible to those who join your group

Only if you want to give FB and its cohorts free access to the photos. I don't "do" FB at all for that and several other reasons.

Free as in they use them for whatever they d---ed well please and don't pay the creator anything for their use. Just remember that with FB and other "free" services you're not paying to use it, therefore, you're not their customer. The companies that are paying them for access to advertise to you and track you are their customers.
