With a manual lens on the D7000 will the camera meter the exposer. If not what do you do to take a photo.

I shoot lots of older manual lenses on my d5000. Some will meter, some won't. One of the great things about a digital camera is the instant results. In manual mode you can play around with your settings and within 4-5 test shots have the metering figured out in a few minutes. I hope you enjoy the older lenses as much as I do.

Nikons Ai-s lenses will meter, some Ai lenses will, but pre-Ai lenses will not.

I don't know if this will work for Nikon, but here is how it works for sony alphas.
1 set camera to manual.
2 set iso to your preference.
3 set lens to desired apature.
4 use shutter speed wheel to move the exposure compensating dial to the middle. adjust until you get it to your liking.

A Nikon lens that is manual bought in 1990 has what type of mount? Will the lens fit on my Nikon D7000 without an adapter? Thank You. :-D

If your inquiry concerns a particular lens, can you tell us exactly which lens it is, i.e. full name?

If it was bought NEW in 1990 it should have the Ai-S mount and will be just fine on your D7000. Pretty much any lens made after 1976 will mount without issues.

That depends on the exact lens, but probably.
