My daughter took a picture of me when I was out shoveling snow at -20. The ice in my mousetache and soul patch took half an hour to all melt out after I came inside. And yes, my skin is that red from the cold.
Here's my current avatar, I change from time to time as I have a lot of carvings. I started wood carving a few years ago to have something to do in my retirement. This is a Cypress Knee.
Very cool Emmett wood carving is something I always wanted to learn from one of the masters

Ahh reminds me of my alaska days, 30 min at 40 below and you will never wish for snow again
I am a bit less tolerant, 5 min at -20 and I am done :D . But then I am a wuss
My avatar is a picture of a planetary nebulae called M-27. It's seen in the summer sky and is about 1,300 light years from Earth. It is what remains of a dying star similar to what our sun will look like in 5 billion years. This picture is a composite of several deep space objects as well as Jupiter and the Moon. all taken with my 8 inch Meade SCT telescope.

Our avitar represents Digitelle Traveler Photographers, both myself and Traveler, who posts here separately. We work as one. The cartoon characters take a little artistic liberties but are probably close enough to be recognized.
Janny and I do a lot of camping and hiking. This was over in Indiana. The canopy was so thick everything looked green. That's Sam in my avatar, he goes too. Erv
