I have had mine for a few weeks. This is the first time for a lens like this so I am still learning my way around, particularly with the weight. I have shot with a tripod and a monopod and have been very pleased. Preordered from B&H and I have now registered my warranty. Looking forward to a Yellowstone trip in early June.
I wish Nikon would develop a competitive lens. I'm really happy to see Tamron stepping it up - competition is good. I'll probably get one when available & then sell my Sigma.

If Canon and Nikon made a lens like this, you don't have enough money. I got mine a couple weeks ago, and really haven't had time to really shoot the lens. I was in the backyard yesterday with it, and it fogged up. The weather in the New Orleans area has been really humid, off and on cold. Not good lens weather, nor bird weather. I do know this lens is heavy for hand held shots. I plan on using my mono, or tripod when shooting this lens. I can hand hold the lens for short periods of time, and get the shot. The filter size makes filters become an investment too. Get a good price on CPL filters at 095mm when you buy the lens. Be sure when buying the filter you get a good one, like B&W, Hoya, or other better brand filter with good glass. Other wise it will show up in the photos.

I am waiting also for the Nikon mount of the lens
Have Tamron done a deal with Canon? Are they only producing this 150-600 for Canon users? so that all Nikon users that want this Tamron lens have to buy a Canon camera. Great marketing !!

Mind, I am waiting for this lens to be available in the UK

LOL, that would never work. I have too much invested in Nikon gear to switch and am sure this applies to many many others.
MT Shooter reported here a few weeks ago that Tamron agreed to produce the Canon mount version before the Nikon and Sony versions, as part of a business deal with Canon for an exclusive license to incorporate the proprietary focusing algorithms used on Canon bodies. Apparently, Canon has not previously shared this data with any third-party lens manufacturers.
Nikon and Sony mount versions are on the horizon, but there is no firm date for when these will become available. :-(

I received the Tamron 150-600 on Tuesday evening and returned it today, I shoot with the Canon 7D and the lens has problems tracking in AI Servo. Did do a very good job on static subjects in One Shot.

Well the Tamron is working very well with Canon bodies and out performing the Big Sig from what I have seen and read , is it the exclusivity of those algorithms some thing to do with that success
I took mine for a test shoot today. I heard about the Al Servo problem, and wanted to check it out. It seems all the birds were not flying to me or away, just across from my blind. I'll try tomorrow. I did shoot some Canada Geese in the pond near the golf course. Not really good photos I think. I have to download them to actually see the product.
After a weather delay, big brown showed up yesterday. I took the lens out of the box and headed to Myakka SP. These were taken using a tripod around 2:30ish pm, very harsh overhead light. These images were jpegs out of the camera without any PP. I look forward to your C&C's. Gary

I finally bit the bullet and got very lucky. Last Thursday I called Hunts Photo & Video to inquire about the lens. I was told they had a shorter list of buyers than the other big online stores. I was told their next shipment may be on 2-14-14, but that unless I prepaid, I would be placed at the bottom of the list. I gave them my credit card, and got a call from them on Monday, two arrived and long story short, I will have my new lens on Thursday. Sometimes it pays to patronize and support the smaller stores.
I will go out, shoot, and will post some shots by this weekend. Can't wait for Brown to get here. Gary
