[Sorry but at that i had a sigma 10-30 n it mounted on my 1dsiii!quote=MT Shooter]????
Are you referring to the Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens? If so, it is crop sensor only and will NOT mount on a full frame body either.[/quote]
But canon do a 8-15mm l series ef lense(full frame);)

Cropped sensor lenses will mount on an FX or full frame camera, but by default the camera will "crop" the area to DX (at least in the Nikon world). You can override this if you want.
When Ritz was still around here, I needed a wide-angle quickly and purchased a very inexpensive Quantaray 19-35 mm f/3.5-4.5 with a 77MM filter for my old Canon Rebel 2000 film camera. It was the widest zoom they had at the time. Salesman told me he thought it was made by Sigma for Ritz, but pretty sure it was made by Cosina.
Have used it on crop sensor with great results at a couple of weddings shooting both outdoors and indoors with flash.
Have found more positive than negative reviews, most rate the lens between 4-4-1/2 stars out of five. Did run across one review that had both 1-2 stars up to 5 stars. Lens still sold used in the $100 range. It may be available new under different brand name(s) today. Have not used it it yet on FF, but will be doing so within next 3 weeks. For an older film lens, it has proved worthwhile for use on digital for me as well.

Good morning,
This fall I am planning a trip to New Mexico to the international balloon festival. I shoot with a d-700 and do not have a wide angle lens. I plan on buying or renting one for this shoot and wondering if any of you have a suggestion as to which lens will give me the best result to capture wide angle to get as many colors and balloons in this shooting situation? A these fixed lens or zoom?
I've got a D800. I love sharpness of the 16-35mm Nikon lens when I'm going to be generally close indoors. Also the VR works well for hand held conditions. Near the 16mm end of the zoom distortion starts to set in. I also have a 24-70mm that I use most of the time when I'm going to be a bit farther away from the subject - as you may be after the balloons leave the ground. I've been to baloon festivals before and find the 24-70 works best overall. Be careful if you rent it as you are very likely to fall in love with it.

Your example to show how much of the photo is lost in straitening, seemed to extreme because the window arch was cut off. I tried straitening it using transform and posted my result to show that you dont have to lose that much of the image when you straighten the edges. Doug

Nikon's 16-35 f4 would be my choice. Set you back about $1,256.95 new, but, rent first and see if you like it.
Take your regular lens also. You may not fine the wide angle does the job you want.

My wife and I are also planning to go to NM for the hot air balloon races and to tour NM. I would be curious about your plans. I have a 10-20mm Nikon FX lens but I tend to use my 28-300 lens as my go to lens and seldom use the 10-20. I have a D800 and the quality of the 28-300 zoom lens with that camera is great.
Zaydewise, I'm not to familiar with how to respond to a specific person on this site, so may be doing this wrong, but I would like to talk with you further about the balloon fest and new mexico.....we are looking for other place and things to see while out in n.m.....I,m...billdavery@bellsouth.net
Bill, if you click on Zaydewise name above his profile pic it will take you to page where you can select "Send PM" (its in bold blue letters on the left side). That means send personal message that only he will get.

Doesn't Tokina make an FX lens close to the 11-16? I could swear I saw an ad for it.
