I am having trouble saving the pictures on the computer or the hard disc drive after I took an advise of shooting Raw pictures and then trying some editting on elements I tried to save them as a jpg on my desktop or even the hard disk drive I keep getting a message saying couldn't save because there is not enough memory( RAM ). Try saving without optmization or as baseline JPG.
I am not sure what does that means ,I have a new mac computer with one G and 4G Ram and my hard disk drive still has more than 350G on it , What is the proplem I have no idea ?Am I doing something wrong here?
can you please help me?
Thanks

Are you opening more than one raw file at once to work on? When it says there is not enough RAM memory it means that there are too many things open on the computer at once and therefore it doesn't have enough to continue working on or saving anything. You have to be careful how many raw pictures you are opening at once because they can use up that space quickly.

What program are you using?
I have a MAC also and can work on several Raw pics at one time.

It's been a while since I've used Elements.
When trying to save files to other locations do you use the export feature? Or are you trying to drag them out of Elements?

I just save them all on the Desktop then when I am done with the whole album I drag them to I photo and save them on an external hard drive and then delete them from the desktop.
I know it is a weird way but I got used to it .

My advice would be to get an EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE and make folders on it to organize your photos there, You can get them on the hard drive and OFF of your computer. The XHD is small and portable. You can take it wherever yoou go and show the photos on any computer, anywhere.

OOPS, we must have been posting at the same time. Sorry

A lot stuff , It is almost as if you are using a regular photoshop without the actual cost I highly recomed it , It looked too complicated at the bigining but after I took a class for it I figured a lot stuff and I am still discovering new things every day

I use Aperture that works seamlessly with iPhoto if I wish to send them over for a slideshow. I can't see yet why Elements is being an issue to you. When you put files into Elements do they go directly there from your camera?

When you first acquired your external hard drive, did you first format it in Disk Utility as: Mac OS Extended(Journaled)? If not go to Disk Utility to verify disk permission and to see if you need to repair Disk Permission. By doing this you will see also the Capacity, Available, used and number of files in your external hard disk. You might need to erase and partition your external drive to make it usable again.

Areej,
Look at the bar on the bottom of your computer, see how many of the icons have a small white spot under them. If you are not using a program go up to it's name at the top left and quit that application. This should free up enough memory for you to do the conversion.
