The fact that I am even typing this message should tell you I am not here to steal anything. I also thank you all for bringing it to my attention. As I said before I may have been mistaken about dropbox. I will find the source and provide it to you because I am not the original source of the "theft"

ha typically, I didn't do it.

have you contacted all the photographers you stole from and offered them payment for the use of their work? I sure hope you at least offered to pay them whatever amount of money you made off them, give them what ever prizes (cash or items) you might have won using their images and whatever else they DEEM appropriate.

Fellow UHHs if this person has stolen an image from you and placed it on his website for sale, please print off this thread, locate screen shots (google cache will have the screen shots of his site even after he has removed them, I will walk you thru the process to access those if you need help), collect all the information you can and send him an invoice for use of the images. Follow it will a letter demanding payment, and if he does not pay you can file in court for payment.

I had a fellow photographer pay me $2,000 for stealing my images and using them on her website. This can and should get costly for him.

Lessons learned ok. I just want to resolve this issue peacefully. I am an honest person, I really am. That is why as soon as it was brought to my attention I resolved the issue. Judge me if you may but please understand, if you judge that, that you don't understand or know then you are no better

I read one poster write on this thread that his image was offered for sale but the offender had edited it some.

Maybe this is a good place to say this, and I hope Mr. Fierro reads it:

I work on other people's images (with their permission) and edit them ALL THE TIME but just because I change them does NOT make them my images. The images AT ALL TIMES AND FOREVER belong 100% to the photographer. After I edit them and post the results, I delete all copies of them, original and edited, from my hard drive.

Your comment caused a memory to pop into my head. In the 1960s there was a famous stand-up comic named Lenny Bruce. A quote: "If you are caught doing something wrong. Deny it. If they've got pictures, deny it."

You knew the images were not yours. So it really doesn't matter where you got them. You knowingly presented them as your own.

don't forget he WATERMARKED the images and put a copyright disclaimer on his website, he knew what he was doing.

It's too bad to because if asked, I would have been more then happy to donate any of my images if I knew for a fact that any potential proceeds would go to Wounded Warrior Project.

I donate my photos all the time. Just last week I donated an eagle photo to a Nature Center in Georgia for use in a publication, and some spoonbill photos to North American Birds.

This is so similar to the time it happened to me

http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-139609-1.html

And there is a common denominator to both. Neither one admitted it was their fault.
They both agreed that 'perhaps' they had done something that wasn't completely kosher but in the end there were mitigating circumstances that made it, not their fault.

Both knowingly swapped watermarks and both played the sympathy card.

I wasn't the one who found out initially; I was alerted by PM. But thanks :)

please don't fall for his "charity line" I'm sure it's a line of BS just like dropbox did it, even thou he placed his watermark on all the images he stole.

ask him for receipts that all work he sold the proceeds were donated, I'm pretty sure there are no receipts.

As you can tell this is a hot spot for me, I've had images stolen and heard the same BS from the person who took mine. They are trying to save face and their pocketbook. Invoice him and donate the money to Wounded Warrior. :)

And you must understand that a lot of innocent people have been offended, so you must sit there patiently and take your lumps, and let a hard lesson sink in. Everyone IS resolving this peacefully, but the offended people, and that is really everyone who uses this site, have a right to speak their mind about it.

Yes I did and I process the photos through Lightroom and upon export iI have it set up to put the watermark on everything I export. Yes I knew what I was doing but I figured since the images were available to the public for download there was nothing wrong with it. Haven't I resolved the issue to the best of my ability? Did I not admit to it? Did I not apologize?

Well I didn't mean this guy specifically, I just meant in general that if I know for a fact the request is a legit non profit charity or for educational
purposes I'm happy to donate.

I've had photos lifted many times as well. I have some pictures that if I do a reverse image I get tired of looking after ten *pages* of results many of them overseas. So it's not like I'm going to sue somebody in China, Russia, or Saudi Arabia.
