Does anyone have experience with both aperture and light room?
What are main differences and what can be done in lightroom that can't be done in aperture?
I of course use apple.
have you gone to utube watch tutorials on both, better if you decide.

Thanks for suggestion---will try that.
You can download them for a thirty day free trial and try them out. I did this when I ditched my PC and went to iMac. For me LR was the hands down winner. I found LR more intuitive and feature packed. There are so many that use Lightroom that you can do a YouTube search and find videos on any how-to you can think of and that also made it a winner in my opinion. Good luck with whatever you decide. ;)
LR has more updates (and happen faster) than with aperture. So, if you're on the bleeding edge of camera equipment, you'd be better off with LR.
Lightroom. Apple is very slow to update and it feels like the will be dropping the program altogether . Aperture uses apples library for your photos making it hard to get to your master files.
I switched about 3 years ago and have not looked back.
Apple is slow to add the newest camera updates, and does not go back too many generations on older versions. Adobe can open more versions of RAW, and offer the option to convert the numerous camera versions to DNG if you want to. You can go either way with it.

I'm curious: I have been an Aperture user for 3-4 years now after having used Photoshop for many, many years. One of the Aperture benefits for me is its Library which I used and organized very effectively for approximately 22,000 photos (Yes, I do have them backed up, twice, and off line. I remember using Lightroom years ago but only to process into Photoshop. Yousay that you converted from Aperture to Lightroom: May I ask how you did this and were you able to maintain your library system and also move not only Masters but also their Versions?

I agree, Aperture is not keeping up when they come out with updates, disappointed to say they least as i have over 100.000 images that i will be importing into lightroom within the next couple of weeks. Hope it goes smooth as I am totally disappointed with aperture after using it for the last 4 years. just my 2 cents.
good luck in making a decision.

Hi,
I did not convert from one to the other. I did buy aperture but have not learned how to use it to the max. I keep hearing so much about lightroom and elements that I was wondering how much better lightroom really is than aperture.
