I have just gone back to film. You cannot buy Kodak down here but the Fuji is still around and I have been buying(stockpiling) 200 every chance I get. I can do things with film that you can't do with Digital.(double exposures) I have a program that can create collages with the digital pictures but they are not the same. Walgreens will put your pictures on zip or cd. The Walgreens tech I use is just great. She really works with me. I recently bought some Canon AE-1 Programs and a TL. She really worked with me in checking them out.

jreaves - have a look online for film. Amazon, B&H and now KEH all sell film for most every variety still being created.

I haven't shot film in a few years, but still intend to...probably 35mm B&W.

I processed and printed both color and B&W...since we moved we are on well a septic so that not practical any more. I still have most of my darkroom equipment, but can't give it away and just can't bring myself to throw it out.

I shoot digital now, but still miss something about film...not sure what!

I am almost all digital, but still try to shoot at least one roll of T Max a year for the romance of it.Have a friend with a dark room, but he moved and it is not up and running now. Take the film to Camera Mart, who sends them out.

I used to do a lot of B&W processing (35mm, 120) and while I do think that there is something to a well exposed and printed B&W final product (think Ansel Adams) I liken this whole debate to the same thing that goes on with audiophiles.

"Tube is better than solid state, vinyl is better than CD". Frankly, guys, these old ears gave up trying to discern subtle differences in sound DECADES ago. I think this debate about film vs digital is headed in the same direction.

I'm still developing a little 120 and 4x5 but stopped printing several yrs ago. I perhaps made a mistake by taking an unsharp masking workshop by Howard Bond. Once you know how to do this, you become spoiled, non-sharpened prints are no longer acceptable. But, the time required for the masking procedure is prohibitive. Once I found that it could be done in PS, that was the end of printing. Plus, printing just got too expensive.

I also am a sometimes filmie. Strongly recommend www.thedarkroom.com for processing. Very high quality and very cost effective.

Here's an example of recent MF 6X9 on TMax 100 with the least expensive scan. Anybody else in the group capturing with a 1937 Lumiere?

I have a small pre-1990 camera collection (Argus, Kodak, Universal, Perfex, Tower, Yashica and Praktica and every once in a while I like to use them. Recently bought some Fuji 200, Lomo 100 and Ektra 100 for them from B&H. For work it's all digital.

Just checked out the Lomo site. Blown away by all the seeming hyperactivity in film work and the resurgence of cameas for film. Anyone know how these poeple are able to jumpstart color and B&W film production when the big guys, i.e., Kodak, Fuji, Agfa, etc., spent decades and billions nailng down the technology to produce film products?
