I found that I had to read all their material/read me's thoroughly to download and use Magic Lantern for T2i, but it was worth it. I haven't used it for video but, for instance, the focus menu was fun, and it enhanced bracketing by adding 5 or even 7 exposures for extreme HDR. Worked good once I read up.
I've been using it on my T2i for a while now and it comes in handy with doing HDR's and timers. You load it up on the SD card and have to press a button to get into the menus for it. Their menu can be intimidating but full of features.

Which features do you use and why? I loaded it but never got into it. Did not have the patience to read their instructions.
Yes, its very tedious. I tried focus stacking but wasn't all that successful. The few times I actually did get it to work it was amazing. Extending exposure bracketing to 5 and sometimes 7 was extremely easy though I don't use it that much anymore. I also tried the extended shutter speed to over 2 minutes. That worked well with Magic Lantern but, like with focus stacking, my own results with the actual exposure wasn't great. It would take a lot of practice. With the success I did have with still photos I am sure the video module would be equally good.

Does anyone have any experience with the download process and use of Magic Lantern for Canon T3i?
Any problems?
How much does it add to photos vs video?
From everything I'm reading ML poses lots of risks that, to me, aren't worth taking. The big one is "the camera won't boot". If that happens you'll have to send it in to Canon for a re-install of original firmware and testing... could be costly. Is it worth it?
Never happened to me. Always been flawless. Hey, they have to put out a warning just in case someone screws it up and blames them! And anyway, I think all one would have to do is get a download to reinstall the original firmware. Very minimal risk.

Reading the forums I don't think anyone has ever had a problem, but even so it is easy to install camera firmware.
It has some pretty useful features I use it for macro work on my 5d mk ii because it let's me do focus stacking really easy and doesn't cost me an arm and leg for software. There are some good tutorials on YouTube for your camera and magic lantern.

Rubbish, get your facts right before you post please.
I have used it for ages now, and the one time when the camera did fail to boot (my fault, I'm sure) you just flick open the battery door and release the battery.

Which functions do you find most useful?
Magic Zoom, focusing help (zebras), audio remote shoot and motion detect (great for birds) of course loads of the Video functions.
Get it and have fun
Would someone please explain to me what Magic Lantern is and why I would want it on my camera? I have a Canon T3. Thanks.
