The Panasonic LX7 is the same camera with different cosmetics and is less than half the price. The only "Rolls Royce of cameras" is the Hasselblad.

I have an LX7 with a LVF2 viewfinder. No regrets. A super fast, impressive camera. I'm loving the f1.7 lens for low light.

I changed the lens cap to an auto open version. Highly recommend it.

thank you, for your Imput, I own two nikons ( D300 and The Nikon 1 AW 1, Nikon first water proof camera , which incidently, I"ve had excellent results with, whil on my caribbean cruise vacation) the under water shots, were amazeing , I always wanted a Leica I feel the D lux 6, is a perfect camera for most times, when I dont feel like carrying my heavy DSLR, and I"m looking for stellar photographic results, as the Leica has a 1.4 very sharp, and fast lens...

If you're a fan of Leica (way overpriced in my opinion) the Leica M9 will give you way more stellar results. :)

Oops. I should have said f1.4 lens on the lx7. I have a V Lux 20 that I am very pleased with. A D Lux 6 would have been a nice companion, but I got an amazing deal on the lx7 from a guy who bought it to use on a ski trip. After that he sold it to me. I recently bought a GX1 from someone upgrading to a GX7. Very nice, but waiting for the money fairy to buy a 20mm prime.

Why buy a camera for $300 and then buy a viewfinder for more than half the cost of the camera alone? Is the LX7 really that good?

well for one, Its the LX6 and the optional view finder, is a optional item, however I chose to purchase it as well, because for one it gives you, all the camera information and you can flip back to the LCD screen if you choose to...., and on a very sunny day, its worth its weight in gold, when you cant see anything on the LCD screen, and the 1.4 super sharp lens is a major advange as well......, as well as all the other Leica advantages, makes this a small point and shoot, that truly resembles a DSLR, it truly is a wonderful addition, when carrying your heavy DSLR is not appropiate, and of course, Leica Quality is legendary.........

Agree totally that the LCD on a sunny day is useless. For someone who has focused and composed with a camera pressed to the nose a viewfinder is a must have. Isn't the Leica legendary quality in this case "made in Japan"?

yes, you are correct, it is made in Japan, However, I"m sure its manufactured to Leica Standards.....I can tell you this much, Its the best small camera I"ve ever used...all the features and benefits of this small camera, truly are remarkable, they leave most of the other brands...way behind......One more thing, how often do you see a 1.4 super sharp lens of leica quality, on a point and shoot??, most point and shoots have much slower lenses, and the results show it........

I just noticed my Leica V-Lux 20 was made in Japan too. Getting old, but still works beautifully.
