Thank you all for your wonderful and informative comments. I will mind my manners and print a few of these for the farmer.

Pictures are great. That was one large barn. Sad to see them go.

Hello again
this weekend's study was of a local barn. i was taking pictures and got kicked out for trespassing, so i stood in the street and finished. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I love your shots of the barn, arkitekt……But...
I totally agree with KotaKrome…In our excitement to photograph a fantastic scene, we, as photographers tend to forget the elemental etiquette. "Ask permission first." But like he also said, people are sue happy, and i blame the lawyers….You get hurt…..totally your fault, but some smart mouth lawyer will come up to you and say, " I can get you a million dollars. We will sue….." i.e.: the woman who went to McDonalds for coffee and put an open cup between her legs in the car and got burned. She got millions from the suit. TOTALLY HER FAULT…But!!!!!!!!

ALWAYS ask first. Farmers are, in general, good people who appreciate good manners and are angered by poor manners and don't like trespassers.
Problem these days is even the good people are scared to death of getting sued by someone who gets injured on the property.
They don't want to be forced to sell OFF the farm to pay civil penalties awarded by some idiot jury.
The photos are GREAT. Imagine if you'd been able to get up closer or INSIDE! What a magnificent barn!

I agree, usually if you ask nicely the property owners will allow you to photograph.

Very good job, Michael, despite your being kicked out! Aren't people weird? A neighbor of ours was taking picture of lots of Christmas lights in someone's yard, and someone came out and told him to leave in no uncertain terms! He wasn't even on their property, but on the sidewalk!!

This is a general comment to everyone and a specific comment to absolutely no one: We who live in the country, especially on farms, value our privacy and our sanctity. We get tired of folks from town dumping their unwanted dogs and cats on us, thinking we'll be happy to take care of them. We aren't; we have our own. Ditto for balloonists and others tromping around our properties and through our crops without permission because they need to retrieve a balloon or want to take a photo or whatever. Most times, if people ask politely beforehand, we will accommodate them, sometimes even offering lanes, paths, etc. for them to use. I doubt that folks "from town" would like it very well if we country folks went to town and wandered around their back yards. I rather imagine they would call the police, and I wouldn't blame them. Trespassing is illegal in either circumstance. Just ask; most of us are very nice folks if we are treated with a little respect.

In PS11, at the bottom of the side bar, there is an effect called "Reflection"
