On another thread, KotaKrome encouraged me to post some of my iguana images (from a trip about a year ago.) We visited low-lying, desert islands in the east. You had to be careful to avoid stepping on iguanas. They are everywhere. I'm a newbie, so hope I'm doing this right.
Wow, they are all different colors. Exciting! That must have been a memorable trip, nice shots.
How interesting! I like the one of the iguana drinking. Nice job.
Thanks, Heirloom and sleepdrdr. I should explain that there are two types of iguanas. The yellow ones and black and orange ones are land iguanas, while the black ones with green and red splotches are marine iguanas.
Very nice shots. We're going there in April - any suggestions about equipment to take?
Thanks ecobin. I used a D7000 with a 17-55 lens for most of my work. I used my 70-300 sparingly for shots down from cliffs to the waterline. I took a monopod but did not use it much because the sun was so bright.
If you do a search on "Galapagos", you will find several threads which will convince you there are lots of ways to be successful taking pictures there.
I should include this one of a Galapagos hawk taken with my 17-55.

Excellent shots :D You have brought back memories of my trip there. As you say sometimes very difficult to walk about. There was a lot of spitting going on which was funny to hear. Apparently it is the salt they spit out from drinking the water  :D
Fantastic set; love those iguanas with their different colorings.
Great photos. No wonder Darwin was intrigued by these islands and spent so much time there.
How could you NOT avoid stepping on one of these, they're huge!!
Thanks for sharing!
What is cost for trip there? Looks fun! Thanks for sharing the photos
