Hi abc1234,
Your comments, as usual, are appreciated. Especially interesting is your approach to handling exposure with flash. I shall try that. I read (from an on-line expodisc instruction manual) that bouncing the flash off of the ceiling or into a mirror would be a good approach to white balance with flash, but bouncing it off of a mirror was a disaster, as it gave me one bright spot in the middle of my shot ...... duh! I should have known better! I am just not the astute photographer at this point that understands all of the caveats of the experts, but I am enjoying the adventure and journey thus far and am indebted to those whose experience far exceeds mine while I learn the ropes.
Again, thanks for your suggestions and comments.

Hi Jim. I gave up bouncing off of walls and ceilings years ago because too much light got lost. And you have the problem of shifting color balances which negate the Expodisc.
I have used various flash modifiers and my modifier-of-the-day is the Lite-Scoop II. I use it for up to about 10' because at greater distances, the spot source of your flash has spread out and you need all the light you can get.
Happy shooting.
Hi abc1234, and thanks once again. As soon as I received your message, I looked up what a Lite-Scoop II was on the net and when I returned to your message, a picture of it appeared at the bottom of my screen. Wow, vendors are really sophisticated these days. I have a lot to learn but now I know about Lite-Scoop II.
Thanks,
- Jim
