I've been a shooter of film and digital (Canon A1, AE1, Sony a850, a900, a77, and various Minolta cams) for over thirty years. My first introduction to photography was with a pinhole camera using a toilet paper role, tape and film. I never thought I would be posting photos from a camera phone! However, after getting my first iPhone in October and discovering VSCO (an app that a friend from Moscow introduced me to) a few weeks ago, I am astounded by the results. I am really intrigued by the capability of the camera phone for everyday photography. I believe that a photograph is a photograph no matter what it was produced with.

All photos taken 01/13/2014.

Interesting tour. You are right. A photo is a photo, and these are very nice.

I am so glad you posted these. They are terrific! I know a photographer friend who has all the great gear and really knows photography. He also decided to see what he could do with his iPhone camera.
He has actually won a few contests with some of them. Much to the chagrin of a judge who said "phones are not cameras and will never be cameras...they cannot compete with a true camera in any way". (Or something similar)
He then proceeded to judge the contest. The top photo in the 'advanced' level was taken with an iPhone!

I am still learning my new sx50. But also just got an iPhone 5s. Since i am unable to go out to my favorite places to shoot at the moment, due to health reasons, I might take a few shots with my phone just to try it out.

Very nice! I have been wanting to go and do not live that far away from Richmond, a very historical place. All the upper end phone cameras have come a long way. I personally use a S2 but as long as you learn to use the settings just like you do on a DSLR you can make some great photos. And my android will stitch panoramics where my 20D well as you know takes alot more work.
But not to take away from your camera but it seems you must be a good photographer as well, it is not always the camera.
Your photos make me want to go right now and shoot.

Everyone, thank you for looking and for your comments. The response far exceeded my expectations. I hope that these photos will inspire you to get out and photograph with whatever "camera" you have.

The Richmond iPhone photos are a result of forgetting my "real camera". Last week my wife had to be in Richmond for several hours of meetings and I had planned to spend the day photographing some of my favorite places to after dropping her off. Once we got down the road and realized that I forgot my gear it was too late to turn back. I then decided to see what I could do with my iPhone and the VSCO application my friend had told me about. I shot all these photos through the program and did all the post processing through VSCO as well. I am quite pleased results. The other photos I posted in the iPhone Photography gallery were shot through the iPhone camera with no application. The post processing was done in either iPhoto, LR4, Aviary, Snapseed or PhotoStudio (or a combination of the above). The VSCO application/program is by far the best I've used to date, which has only been since October as a newbie to iPhone (I'm a former Android user).

PM me if you have any questions or if I can help in anyway.

Happy snapping!

Wow! These shots are terrific!!! I too am a believer that you can take a good shot with a smart phone (I have a samsung galaxy 3). I took two shots while in Chicago with my phone that I pp either in snapseed originally and then later in lightroom. The only problem is that I tried to blow up one of them and the quality was not terrific in 11x16 format. But smaller or for the screen it was fabulous. I will post them later when I get a chance. But your photos are excellent!! Clearly you are very talented and I can't wait to see more of your work! :))

Wow! I just got an iPhone, and I'd never thought about using it for more than junk photos. I may have to re-think that position.

I think you'll be amazed. Be sure to download the VSCO app and do your shooting and PP through the app.

Another question, probably a stupid one: How do I get the iPhone photos from the phone to the computer? As I indiated, I just got the thing.

Please reply here or send me a PM. I'll really appreciate it.
