being a back seat rider I wear mine around my neck...
nice light weight Olympus OMD.
When I don't feel like carrying it, the bike has two hard side cases and I get one. I slip my camera, an extra lens and some other stuff into my purse and it fits into the side case. When I ride a bicycle, I put the camera cross my body and swing it around so it is hanging on my back. that way it doesn't swing into the handlebars.
I have never had a bird poop on me. I have experienced rain and the gear is safe in the side case. I don't ever drive the motorcycle...and if you have anything more than a point and should I would advise getting off the bike to take the shots....would hate to dump the bike for the sake of a pic. Have you considered a helmet cam?

Does anyone have a good system to haul photo gear on a motorcycle to ride around and take pictures - either on a short jaunt or a long trip. How do you assure there is no damage (vibration, rain, dust, bird poop, etc) to the equipment? Any special technique to take pictures without getting off the bike (assuming you have stopped the bike)? I'm anticipating Spring is just around the corner.
