I just joined and have a Nikon D3200 camera. I am going to taking picture off Beaufort NC, I will be running the bay and going out 2 or 3 miles on a calm day. What are the best ways to keep it day and what about the salt water spray? Help? Have a great day.
The BEST way would be a waterproof case as in the ones made by Underwater Kinetics or Pelican.
I used to go out on a 20 footer in NH up to 5 miles out. Put my D5100 in a food bag and cut a hole for the lens and then put a tight rubber band around the cutout. Clean lens front after coming back to dock.

Yep! Freezer ZipLocks are great for this duty.

For a cheap solution, the plastic bag is great BUT watch out for the salt spray, even if you think there isn't any...we went on a cruise last year and even though we were on the promenade deck (main level) way above the water on a still day, I was amazed at just how much muck got on my lens...
I use a plastic bag on rainy days as well with the good old rubber band to seal the camera off...
Thank you, good information
Thank you, I will use it.

I have a 26 ft. boat and also have used zip locks on the Chesapeak Bay. But purchased a Storm Jacket Camera Cover a couple of years ago with a clear filter. It keeps things dry and the can be washed when needed.
Where do I look for that cover? Thank you very much.
The only time I use a UV filter is in a boat...

Do a search for "Storm Jacket Camera Cover" I ordered mine directly from the company. I no longer have a link for them.
Thank you for taking the time to help

Are you going to be taking the camera out of whatever you're carrying it in to take your shots? I've still got the WWII ammo carrier that Z used to carry my film camera on a canoe trip. It worked great. Watertight.
