What an awesome start! I don't know if I will be able to post anything that cool, but here are a couple that were shot this winter, and some from Saturday. Tomorrow our high is supposed to be 27*!!! So I will probably bundle up and go find some natural ice!

Your first picture is gorgeous with the sun shining through the ice on the windshield.

Temperature this morning was -21 F with a windchill of -45 F. That means frost and ice buildup along the bottoms of windows and doors.

Wonderful photos so far y'all. I'm in the desert southwest, the only ice I see is the ice cubes in my freezer lol. How interesting is that.
The kid already teases me for what he thinks are strange things to photograph haha I can only imagine what he will say if I shoot the ice cubes LOL.
Nan ... you are right.... that will be my new years resolution.
I've been slacking... can count on one hand the number of times I've gotten the camera out to photograph anything but the heathens.
I almost forgot how much I love it. Not sure if I will find any real ice but that will just make me think outside the box.
Thank you all for your comments I love y'all.

No ice yet. It's 47 right now but tomorrow will probably be a much different story. I'll get back to you.

pg 1 - great start and how clever - we don't have ice here yet so this is a great idea. When home on Wednesday might 'have a go'!

I have picked Ice as my topic even though I am in deep south Texas...and yes we do get some once in a blue moon here!...but it is usually freezing rain! It is going down to the mid to high 30's here tonight with a wind chill factor. They are already advising parents to make sure the kids are dressed properly tomorrow. ...anyway...I just got sidetracked....;-) I have chosen ice to give myself and you a chance to be creative. Please submit anything that even remotely looks like ice and if you don't have any...that is o.k. too! Send something along anyway!
What I did to challenge myself was to drop ice cubes into a fish tank and try to catch the action. I also dropped some other things in and then turned the picture 180 degrees and it looks like they are jumping out and froze in place! The trinkets are out of focus as I have to figure out a way to drop them in the same spot each time and I have yet to get enough light and less noise, but I will keep practicing!

So have fun with this challenge, use your imagination and lets see what you got! Cheers!

Thanks Suejay! It is a fun exercise...and an exercise of patience! LOL! If you or anyone else tries it I would love some pointers as how to do it. I went by the seat of my pants and so any ideas would be great!

Actually I just wanted to remind everyone that if you do have some ideas of how to do something new or something that you know some basic steps that will help us out please let us know. It is all about learning and sharing and some of us work hard on things that might be much simpler to do if we knew the basics. I have taken few classes but there is a lot of trial and error for me. Now is a good time to learn a few things since most of us don't want to go outside in this crazy weather! Just a thought! :-) Cheers and keep those pictures coming!

Well, not so cold when there is water. Of course, the one river never seems to freeze.

But thanks

8-)
