Challenge - Jan. 6th - 8th - ICE +
I have picked Ice as my topic even though I am in deep south Texas...and yes we do get some once in a blue moon here!...but it is usually freezing rain! It is going down to the mid to high 30's here tonight with a wind chill factor. They are already advising parents to make sure the kids are dressed properly tomorrow. ...anyway...I just got sidetracked....;-) I have chosen ice to give myself and you a chance to be creative. Please submit anything that even remotely looks like ice and if you don't have any...that is o.k. too! Send something along anyway!
What I did to challenge myself was to drop ice cubes into a fish tank and try to catch the action. I also dropped some other things in and then turned the picture 180 degrees and it looks like they are jumping out and froze in place! The trinkets are out of focus as I have to figure out a way to drop them in the same spot each time and I have yet to get enough light and less noise, but I will keep practicing!
So have fun with this challenge, use your imagination and lets see what you got! Cheers!

Great images Clicker....love your creativity....love the 'jumping out of the tank' images. I worked on frozen bubbles today.....not very successful....needed more time to take more shots but so very cold out today.....and it was breezy out so difficult to capture the bubbles before they broke up.
The Governor has closed all schools in the state tomorrow as we are expected to get to a -25 to -30 F tonight with a high of -15 F tomorrow....and that is in the Metro area. I'm sure the folks further north will be down to -45 F.
A captured frozen bubble...used my glove as background to take its picture
and a very poorly captured.. broken frozen bubble....maybe someone will have some better bubbles
What a neat idea! I would like to see more of those...but be careful out there. The equipment can get damaged too! Perhaps in the a.m. before the breezes start. I think I will pass this idea on to my sister up in Ontario...I think it is pretty cold there too! Stay safe whatever you do!!!

This looks like fun. I have plenty of icicles, but ever since I saw this posted on the calendar have been trying to think. You got some terrific shots too!

Never heard of this. We are headed into the deep freeze tomorrow after tonight's freezing rain - this has been some winter already! Have plenty of bubble stuff so am itching to try this.
Ok, I got a couple of images yesterday.
It's been cold, which means that most of the ice is covered in snow. Thus, it's dull subject matter. Might as well try for a pic of a parking lot, at 5 in the morning when no cars are around.
Just two places open with 'objects of interest'.
You've probably seen posts of these two places before.
Out again today. Freezing rain mostly during the day. Long go around drive.
8-)
Geese at edge of ice. Barrows Goldeneye in water
Black Ducks in a river that only rarely freezes.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.............ice, eh?
Does icing work?

Loc: Rockaway, New York
Too bad the strawberries weren't frozen. Gotta think of something else.
ice storm just before xmas

I would love to find a group of Barrows for my camera! I love Goldeneyes!
