Check out Mr. Poster In Indianapolis (the Broad Ripple store if they have more than one). They do great work.

Montana, what kind of printer do you have? That's great that you do it yourself! Happy New year.

I have made very large prints...30X40, 24X36....etc...many of them...I have them hanging at home and my office.

I use AdoramaPix.com and I do my post in LR mostly...I don't let the lab adjust anything.

I'm not saying that they'd do a bad job...I just don't want to spend $20.00 to find out. :)

check out a 360 view of my office and what I have hanging there...sorry for my pug obsession...they are my favorite models...

Since you invited me into your office, I have to ask about the nine squirrel tails hanging on your wall. Did the Pug bag them?

Since you invited me into your office, I need to ask one question. Did your pug bag the nine squirrel tails hanging on your wall?

I had a 24x36 picture done by one of the Wallgreens in the Twin Cities area. They did a great job. However we tested 4x6 shots at six other sites that failed terribly. The people and equipment at each store make the difference.

I have used Nations Photo Lab with great results - they do the enlargements and mount the prints on 1/2-inch "gatorboard" which is lightweight but very tough and doesn't warp.

Thanks for that info...I might give that gatorboard a shot.

Second that - we have a WalMart that does an incredible 30x40, and one that can't do 4x6. They have a "leave it alone" switch when you load it, but you HAVE to specify, it's not the default. BTW, WalMart online uses the HP factory for printing, delivered free to your local store. Hard to beat.

I use www.Adoramapix.com after any editing that I need to do. You can also request that they not edit for you if you have already done what you wanted.

Happy New Year everyone. Just wondering if anyone has large prints, 11x14 and larger printed by labs or by home printers anymore for hanging on the wall? If so, do you send your file to the lab after LR or PS postwork - or do you rely on the lab's expertise? I love to see great photos printed large. Thanks for your replies.

Mike

If I am going to frame and hang a photo, I get it all adjusted, I might do an 8x10 at Walgreens it's cheap just to look at it. But my final printing is done at Mpix. I also have used a company called national print (something like that) but the quality was the same as Mpix

Good luck
Joe

I would recommend that you post process your images for yourself if you have a good calibrated monitor. But, when you submit your images to be printed by anyone, find out if there is a check box with instructions NOT to make corrections and check it! When you have a high dynamic light range on an image, corrections can blow out the details. In response to a forum post I made a few weeks back, there are a lot of printing companies that automatically make corrections and some, like Shutterfly, that hide the check box that would tell them not to make corrections.

I have all my printing done at Tempe Imaging Center. Most of my prints are 12x18, some 16x20. The choice of format is camera dependent. I provide them a jpg of the final image and they print it straight away. Their term for it is "self managed".

It took a couple of trial prints to dial in what I needed to give them, but after that it's a simple bring in the file, or send it to them. Get a call when the work is complete and pick it up.

They also do work for out of town photographers and simply mail the final results back.

I hav e had prints of 16x20 and 20x30 made at Sam's Club from my edit. They were not bad but finally decided that I am such a control freak that I only print 13x19's now on my canon Pro 9500 Mark II. If I finally need larger prints I will buy a larger printer. But hey, that's just me.

I use my home Epson Stylus PHOTO R3000 for prints up to 12 x 18 with excellent results. This is a quality printer! However, it takes a while to get it set up right for the correct color balance that I look for.
