Wondering if my old SLR Pentax lenses are compatible with Pentax DSLR's? Is there an adapter available?

I brought a used 400 mm lens from the 1980 era. It is manual focus and has worked with a Pentax K 10D, K 7 and now my K 5 II.
I also have a used Pentax SMC Pentax-A 1:2 50mm manual focus that works just fine.
I am not an expert on this but my understanding is most should.
I was told that is a perk of going Pentax...older lenses tend to work.
I hope someone with more expertise answers this better for you...

My experience is similar. No problems.

Of course, the older non-autofocus lenses remain manual focus, but they do get the benefit of image stabilization.

I'm hoping the K3 will get to a reasonable price some day...

hi, just received your post. if your lenses are k mount, which is the bayonet mount, there is not need for an adapter. they will work (with the usual feature caveats) on your camera. if, however, your lenses are the old m42 thread mount, then you should be able to find an adapter for them, most likely on ebay, or try B&H Photographic. they may have something for you.

They will work fine. As a bonus, you get in-body stabilization with manual focus film lenses that way too!

I have a Pentax K 10D, I also have a 1976 135 f/2.5.

What you need to do is go into the custom settings and select the use aperture ring setting and select permited in the menu, then your old lenses will work.

here is a link on how to do it

I bought my Pentax K100D specifically for the backwards compatibility. With quiet a number of thread mount Pentax and other lenses in my collection, I wanted to be able to use them with a digital body. The thread mount adapter can be a little tricky to install and remove, but now all my Pentax-mount lenses, bayonet and thread, can be used on this camera. Next purchase will be the Leica to Pentax mount. It's good to get some use out of the older lenses in my collection.

I have a K30 and it uses all old Pentax lenses with a K mount with no issues

I have used old screw threaded Pentax lenses with digital Pentax.
You need an adapter and can only use manual settings but they work fine.

I've since switched to Nikon equipment but occasionally use the Pentax equipment.

I have been shooting with Pentax for a while. I have the K5 which I still used, and I just got my K3 in. Some of the best lenses are older lenses. That is the beauty of shooting with Pentax.

I found several old lenses for my k30 on eBay,and they work perfectly ,albeit in "m" mode.
