I've been watching that ebay site for a lens...and wouldn't you know it, just the other day, I was able to pick one up from Craigslist - a Canon 100-400L! The code date showed May of 2012! Got a great deal from a gal that realized she wanted to get away from the long reach and focus on portraits more.
Here's my test shots zoomed out to 400 on my Canon 60d, all handheld at ISO 400.
Still learning and thankful for your knowledge!
Cropped just a bit...
Buzzards make great practice for BIF!
Lonesome Dove
I'd say you're well on your way! Those shots are quite good, even it hadn't been your first time out. Good hunting with the lens.
Nice work on the photos and getting this lens. I love mine. Use it all the time. I love the way you can focus either short or long. Congrats!!
Nice shots!
You will love that lens. Aperture "sweet spot" on that lens is f/8.
Clean your sensor. Dust spot on the second picture.
Nice. Very sharp lens. You are going to have fun with it. Congratulations.

Thank you all for the comments! Can't wait to get to the beach this spring. Maybe down to the river sooner if I can get away a bit.
Canikon, thanks for that catch...I hadn't even noticed that spot, I'll check that out, along with that f8 sweet spot!

I understand the scammers, sure gotta watch yourself. I feel really fortunate to have snagged this one...there is literally not a single scuff on this anywhere!

I think I'm gonna love this one too...not nearly as heavy as I was thinking. May become a carry for me as well!

Thanks for the check. As I think about it, I think I had the camera set on something else. In PP, I had to play with white balance quite a bit...still trying to improve that editing stuff.
