Red Top Mountain
Red Top Mountain
We took a little trip to Red Top Mountain in Ga. Funny, I didnt see anything there that could be truly classified as a mountain. The lump they seem to refer to does not appear to be red on top or anywhere else. There is a nice lake and lots of trees, so it is a nice place for taking pictures.
I took these shots with my Canon t1i and 18-135mm lens. I value your opinions, so please feel free to critique, edit, delete, call me names or whatever. I have learned so much since I started reading everything I can find on this wonderful forum. The more I learn, the more I find I need to learn! I want to thank all of you for educating and entertaining me on the terrific site.

Red Top Fire Sump is located in SW Oregon at around 3500'!
But I assume you have a different Red Top in mind! (Yours is much prettier!)
Thanks Dudley, this place is in NW Georgia. I live about 60 miles SW of there. I've never been to Oregon, but from what I hear, you have a lot of beauty to photograph up there.

Oregon is indeed a beautiful state to live in. For color shots, I suggest October-November.
I live about 80 miles from Crater Lake (If the North entrance is open, outherwise, it's a 120 mile trip to the top.)
The coast is open year 'round.
I do not mean this to sound harsh---but neither photo has that W-O-W factor. Both are pretty pictures, they use the photo rules and are nicely exposed----but I won't look twice.
Every pretty scene does not make a gripping, stunning photo.
My wife is my critic---if she doesn't sit up and take notice of the photo---I put it away.
Just my crummy 2 cents worth.
Larry
As more and more folks see the photos, they willl make up their own mind. I'm encouraging the OP to post more photos. (A person must start somewhere.)
Could you please point us to some of the W=O-W sites you refered to?
Show us your W-O-W pictures. We will see if yours are that much better.

I appreciate everyones opinion and thank you guys for taking the time to critique. I am delighted that some see them as good and those who do not are entitled to their own taste. If one does not like a photo, and feel it could have been better, I am here to learn. Please tell me what I should have to make my photos better.

Nice pictures Dave. I live right down the Hwy from you so I guess that kinda makes us neighbors. I too have the 18-135mm but to be honest I haven't used it much. Hoping to get some shots of some hummers with it this spring though. Take care and take pics...
Dave I also live right down the road from you. It's just too bad that we just have mostly red clay lumps we call mountains. I think your shots were well done.
Thanks Johnny. I got the lens recently and I am very happy with it. Go out and shoot some pics and have fun. I am looking forward to spring as well. My spring and summer photos will be more about my other hobby, baseball. I'll post some of those when I get them.
Thanks, Artsmith, we really are neighbors, I don't know exactly where Johnny lives, but you are very close.
Number one is incredible - it really sucks me into the scene..!
