I'm new here, hope to mooch some help to learn more about digital photography.
When I was young (long ago and far away) I took photography classes and learned a lot from my Dad, who was an avid film photographer with a darkroom and the whole nine yards. He let me use one of his beloved Nikons (can't remember the model now) and I became enamored with black and white photography. I really enjoyed it for a while. But then came marriage and kids and work, and I lost touch with it, no time. No time for years. I kind of regret that now, but it's spilt milk.
I'm 62 now and have a granddaughter who is 14 and an avid and prolific photographer. She has gotten me excited about it all over again, and so I've decided to get back into it as a hobby activity I hope to pursue a little bit.
I've been playing around some with a D40 I acquired, and got the full frame bug recently. So I went out and picked up a pristine low mileage D700. Ordered the Busch Guide for it and am studying that now. Don't have a lens for it yet, so I'm watching my local CL for a 50mm to start with.
After that I will likely turn into a wild man, annoying friends and family members to tears with my constant badgering and hovering around inside their personal spaces with a camera. But they know me, so I figure they know what to expect. And if they don't, well, that's just too bad.
I hope to learn a lot, though the digital experience is kind of new for me. And all that stuff I knew when I was young? Well, I killed those brain cells long ago. So it's all brand new, eh?
