I'm Buying A New Camera... HELP!!!
First of all, I would like to reintroduce myself. I go by the name Abbigirl and I have been a member of UGG since Oct. 2011. However, I haven't visited UGG Photo Forum in a long time. Too busy studying various software and photography in general.
The cameras I own are Canon Rebel T3i and a little Canon Power Shot SX 130 IS. I'm in the process of purchasing a new camera. Although I would love it to be a 5D Mark III, that's just not realistic for me. I've chosen to go with either a used 5D Mark II via E-Bay or a brand new Canon 70D. I would love to pick your brains and ask for your opinions on the two cameras and which do you think is the better buy. Performance, etc.
IMHO your needs and budget should determine what you want.
Personally I am a big fan of used bodies from reputable suppliers ( KEH, Adorama, B&H) More bang for the buck.
That said, Factory Refurbs will get you a great break on price and deliver NEW camera to your doorstep.
You know what features you need and that should drive our decision in conjunction with your budget.
My personal philosophy is buy one lever higher that you think you need and you will grow in to it.
( Better to have a feature and not need it, than need it and not have it )
Good luck, post some pics
can I ask why you are looking to upgrade from the rebel? what is the 7d going to do for you that your current dslr isn't?
What lenses do you currently own? have you given any thought to upgrading your glass over the body? Higher end glass on a entry level body, will make you think you got a new body, I honestly would try that first and the lens you can use on a new body if and when you do upgrade.
For some reason, folks only seem to like Nikon and Canon. But I have a Sony Alpha 100 and a Sony A77V and I love them both. They are easy to use, can be as automated or manual as you want and relatively mid priced. You can often find used camera bodies and lenses on Ebay, for even lower prices. That's my 2 cents worth.
Your current lenses will dictate very heavily in your decision - do you have full frame or crop frame lenses ?? AND, what do you want to photograph most ?
Get a 70D; newer technology, far fewer autofocus issues than the 5DMkii. Your pics will change your life!
I would suggest that, if your thinking about buying a used or reconditoned camera, that you check with KEH, B&H, Adroma, Cametia or Berger Brothers (all on line) and not just Ebay.
Love the first two questions here. Think very hard about what YOU think a new camera will improve, or what is wrong with what you have. Many times learning better technique will fix any problems. Then you can sock away cash for what you may need down the road.

Hi Abby,
A small point but something, I believe, that is important, I use a Canon5d Mk2 I also have a 50d. The difference in the two is quite remarkable. The 50d has a cropped sensor while the 5D has a full frame sensor. The difference is mind blowing..... So, I would suggest a 'FULL FRAME sensor Every Time. If you have a choice consider, seriously, a full frame sensor ! Good Luck. Norman
Please do include your current lens lineup. If working within a budget, you may be better served with a new lens (or few) rather than a new body. Here's a recent link from a brand new 70D. Look too at the references to the lenses used.

What about the Canon 6D? I bought one about 6 months ago as my first venture into a full frame DSLR. I have been very pleased with it.

Abbi, I have aT1i and a T4i, just after I got the T4 I started drooling over the new 70D, until I got the Canon brochure, checked the comparison between the T4/T5 and the 70D, not anything I need for my shooting in the 70D, check if there are features in the body that will help you before you spend your bucks, Bob.

I also have a Canon 6D and highly recommend the full frame format.
