Was heading towards the south shore of Rhode Island today hoping to get a shot of the Snowy Owls that have been reported in the area. No luck with the owl but I did get my first shot and encounter with this Bald Eagle perched on the side of the highway.
I was so excited it took me some time to gain my composure and use the proper camera settings. I think?
If this were my first shot of a bald eagle I'd be so excited I'd probably have to flip my Canon 5D MK III into Auto, just to be sure I got something to take home and brag about. You, on the other hand, nailed it. Where in RI were you? I used to live in Newport, so I know my way around the state fairly well.
My first one didn't look that good!

Gorgeous! The beautiful light is a bonus.
FYI: I still lose my composure when trying to photograph these magnificent animals - and I have hundreds of images :)
Nice job! I've been blessed to have gotten a few good shots of African fish eagles in Kenya, which look almost identical to our bald eagles. It was mostly serendipity and a good camera in my case. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Lucky you! Beautiful shot!!

Great picture. I have three nesting pair in Oklahoma close to home. It never gets old. Sometimes I almost forget I am holding a camera just sitting there watching them. By the way in case you didn't know this is a male.
