The FBI said that in a video from Nov. 24, the day of the assault, Mr. Barrett said he wanted “to see if I were to hit a black person, would this be nationally televised?” The video shows him stopping his car, approaching the 79-year-old man and asking, “How’s it going, man?” — before “a loud smack is heard and the victim falls to the ground.”

“Barrett laughs, says ‘knockout,’ and then flees,” the FBI affidavit says.

In other videos, the FBI said, Mr. Barrett uses racial epithets and says blacks “haven’t fully experienced the blessing of evolution.”

The victim of the assault, identified only as “R.C.,” lost three teeth, suffered a broken jaw and had two metal plates inserted into his mouth. Local police identified him as the victim, and he confirmed he had been walking down the street Nov. 24 when he was attacked.

Crime is crime, victims are victims, the point is the violent assault, broken jaw, and missing teeth. Hate crime is bull shit, there should be no place for it in our justice system, you can't say this person suffered more because his assailant was a racist idiot, had his assailant been a black man he would have suffered the same, hate crime is just a vehicle for our racist AG to use a bigger stick to hit white people with... Violent crime should carry a heavy sentence no matter the motivation, this whole meme of hate crime to measure out what should be the sentence in the first place just allows the system to measure out unequal justice which Holder has proven himself to be very effective at. I don't see our AG prosecuting anyone other than whites for supposed hate crimes.

We all know why he did it, but does that make the assault anymore outrageous than it was? Let me ask you which was worse? The assault or the motivation for the assault... They should just make the punishment for assault fit the brutality of the crime and forget about so called "hate crimes". The entire notion of "Hate Crimes" makes no sense, it is an outgrowth of CRT and it does not belong in our criminal justice system.

I have seen this on Fox. It was sad to see that a White person would do this for any reason. I must say that it was a hate crime as implied by this jerks own words. I also agree that it is and was a hate crime for Blacks to go after Whites in a so-called "knock-out" game since Whites were the targets. But now that a White Man has come out and has done the same himself does not justifies but, does lesson the impact of black on white crime. It just makes it hard to call Black on White a hate crime when a White man is doing it as well. It is a crime no matter how you look at it. The jerk should have stayed at home.

The difference here is that the White guy said he was going to find a Black person to "knock-out" to see if what he done goes national on the news. As with Blacks, their targets were White but the exception here is that it was not called a hate crime. A crime is a crime but it is the reason for the crime that makes a difference.
