OH! And Do NOT get me started on the "New Improved" Photoshop were you have to "rent" it by the month and have your files in some F^cking Cloud..... No Thank You.

The biggest mistake Adobe made in marketing their lease software is invoking the word "cloud" in their description, as has been proved above.

NONE of the users files or pictures are stored off of the users computer in the "cloud" somewhere, and this includes the software itself. You download the software and install it similar to a 30-day trial. The software lives on your computer, the pictures you edit with the software live on your computer, and any changes you make will stay on your computer. The only difference between the "cloud" version and CS6 is that once a month, the "cloud" version interrogates Adobe to make sure your monthly lease is paid up. If it is, the software keeps working. If not, photoshop will not start up - BUT - your pictures are still on your computer, the previous edits you made to them are still there and you can still view and access your photos.

I had the same problem. Lost nearly 14,000 MP3's. Plus a lot of other programs. So, I took my computer, and a brand new Win 7 Premier, to my local computer whiz, and he removed Win 8, and installed Win 7 Prem. A lot of programs won't work with 64 bit, so my Win 7 was 32 bit. The only problem I had was the sound card in my computer, (HP) had to be replaced. I know that MS won't be supporting Win 7 for very much longer, but maybe by then, I'll have programs that won't loose so much of my data.

I have to upgrade my PC and have no choice but Win 8 on a new PC. I don't want to pay the high price of having to purchase CS6 (nearly $1K), as Adobe no longer offers upgrades.

Has anyone been able to get CS5 working on Win 8 64 bit?

Looks like I may have to go to GIMP and loose some of my plug-ins, if I can't find a solution.

Windows 7 full support will continue till January 12, 2015. After that, extended support (security fixes only) will go till January 14, 2020, unless you purchase a support subscription, which would include non-security-related fixes) through the 2020 date (must be purchased before April 15, 2015).

So, technically, security-wise, Windows7 is good to go for a long time yet.

That's per this article:
