Canon Rebel EOS T5i Question

I just went on a photo shoot with an instructor and he couldn't answer this question for me. Hopefully, someone out there knows.
I shot several pictures holding the camera vertically. When I tried to review the photos, the display only showed the subject in the landscape mode but the right and left edges were blacked out.
How do I see these pictures the way they were taken (vertically, not horizontally) on the camera display?
Thank you for your help because the manual certainly didn't have the answer in it.

Page 212 of your manual starts off with Auto Rotation of Vertical Images

Thank you so much for the help.
I had downloaded the manual and was searching on Landscape and Portrait modes. It didn't occur to me to try using Rotate.
That did it.
Have a swell holiday and thanks again.

If yours is like my t3i there is a menu setting to automatically twist vertical photos so you view them normally. Your owner's manual will have instructions.
