A few miles from my home is a small fishing village “Princeton by the Sea” it has a nice small boat harbor and of course a great fishing fleet. Right now the crabbing season is on and you can smell the place before you see it. I go there for one reason; they have the best Clam Chowder. Here are a few pictures of the place.

All of them are beautiful!!!

Great shots...You're giving me a strong urge for Abalone.

Thank you very much, Abalone is a little further north on the Sonoma-Mendocino coast, My daughters son in law dives for it and gave me some. I spoiled it by overcooking it was like chewing leather.

Back in 1971, I found a seafood company in St Louis that had some for 5 bucks a pound. I bought three pounds and tried cooking it....I knew how difficult it was to cook...under and overcooked it got tough.....Well I ruined it...., so I know what you mean. Whenever I come to the Bay area (last time was 2009) I stop off at a bar in Pescadaro, where they have it on their menu at a little bar and restaurant. It's something like 45 bucks for an Entree' But I paid that much the last time I ate it on Fisherman's Wharf in SF, so I always stop and have some.....I would classify it as my favorite sea food. There is even a restaurant in the Suburbs of St Louis that serves it from time to time. If you call before hand they have it flown in and I think it is farm raised...But it is about the same price as buying it in California. I tried harvesting some in the 60s and was not successful at doing so...Those little buggers would sense me and latch onto the rocks like superglue. There is a book written by famed Aerobatic Pilot Patty Wagstaff, called Fire and Air; A Life on The Edge. In it she talks about working at Abalone Harvesting before she became an airshow pilot.

You need a crowbar to get those suckers off the rocks. They are enforcing the limits and the seasons very strict now. A few months back the caught a bunch of guys poaching off season and selling to some restaurants around here, even they were fined for buying the illegal catch.

Love your pictures. HMB and Princeton are favorite places for my family to have an occasional lunch.

Very true, cheaper than S.F. and the parking is easier.
