Printer options

As part of my church, I go on a mission trips regularly, either out of country or to areas of our state as well as within our local county. I posted photos on UHH of my most recent trip to Haiti.
I want to look into the possibility of taking nice photos of people I come across who likely would never have a photo taken of themselves or their family due to circumstances.
Can you guys/gals give me a few options as to a "portable" printer that I could look at? Are there any that run on batteries? Are there some that would be considered "packable" even though you might need plug it in to power?
Just wondering about options here.
I use a Canon 60d if that makes a difference. And I am a newbie! Thanks!

The HP100 works on battery and prints wirelessly. Not bad quality either for photos, but the ink isn't the cheapest. Great portability though, I love mine, I graduated from the old Deskjet 450 model when it finally died after 11 years of travels with the government.

Thanks, MTShooter! I'll have a look at that.

This is not a "film" printer by any means. It is a dye sublimation ink printer that laminates a clear cover over the thermally transferred ink print.
Yes its a good little printer for the money but it is limited to the 4.6 size only. You buy Ink/Paper packs for them that yield about 100 prints, the ink always runs out a little before the paper is gone, but they put 108 sheets of 4x6 paper in the packs. About 38 cents per print on average.

Others are giving you advice on printers, but prior to printing is exposure and how it prints. I had occasion to photo graph dark skinned individuals I goggled and found a number of good suggestions. For an "albino gringo" like me, getting correct exposure for photographing was a challenge.

I found many charts of skin tones... goggle "skin tone chart" this may help you with setting up a good exposure chart. Or if you have suggestions, surly sharing experience of how to properly expose and light would a great help.

Enjoy your trip and continue with good works. d/p

Sorry about not getting "dye sublimation." I've owned one for a couple of years. Yes it is limited to 4x6 but does an excellent job of them. Plus there is an optional battery for it making it highly portable. Plus you can use memory cards, computer or direct from camera.

Check out a Canon IP100. Decent quality AND can even be battery powered!

I have a Canon iP100 that I use with my 60D and have gotten excellent results. I got mine at Office Max, but I believe it's also available at Office Depot. Cost about $200. Canon sells a battery pack so the printer can be used if no electricity is available.

I recommend you check out the Canon iP100.

I had the name of the printer wrong. It should be Canon Pixma iP100.

I have the Pixma iP100, not only does it give great quality photos, it does have a rechargeable battery option.
You will not break the speed record when you decide to print 8x10 photos, but it does print good quality photos.
